A dim LCD screen usually means a bad inverter. The inverter is a device that is connected between the video card and the LCD panel and is responsible for powering the bulb inside the LCD panel. Inverter replacement is a fairly simple repair and can be done quickly.

Dim LCD Screen Reason Number 2 – The second most common reason for a dim LCD screen is a burnt out LCD bulb or backlight. This bulb is located inside the LCD panel. There are two ways to remedy this issue. The first and least expensive is a backlight replacement. This procedure requires the LCD panel to be opened up and the internal bulb replaced.

Estimated Repair Cost: $119.99.  

The second option to correct this issue is to replace the LCD panel.
